Isn't it just amazing how everything we need to not just survive, but flourish in this world just happens to exist most anywhere we go? The only thing we bring to the table is our wits, which we seldom use much anymore.
I loved "experimenting" like this when I was a kid. We'd walk out the back door into the forest, and try and break rocks into axeheads, cutting tools, and arrowheads (not much success). We would spend hours bouncing our steel axe off rocks to see how big a spark we could get. We started fires using all kinds of stuff we scrounged up. We coulda been killed or seriously mangled a number of times.
It would seem like a great plan to have someone just drop me off up in the hills somewhere for a couple weeks with only a day or two's supply of food and water and a few simple tools and see what I can do. Hmm, something to think about when I get back home...
