Did anybody watched this show in the Science Channel? I like it very much and would like to have any comments from anybody that watched. I think the guys is tough, well prepared (not well equipped) and fearless. It takes some cojones to do that.

The guy clearly knows his stuff, but I find it a hard show to watch because he's such a drama queen! For example, he says things like, "If I don't catch this squirrel my chances of surviving until tomorrow are slim to none!" I'm sure he considers this part of dramatizing his solo efforts - but personally I would prefer a more matter-of-fact presentation. Still, the show is structured so that each episode he survives in a different environment (desert, alpine, swamp, etc), and if you're new to survival there's plenty to learn from the show...

I had a few email conversations with Les Stroud and he really seems like a great person. If you look up his website he has done some other TV and film work with some awards and interesting subject matter.
I have watched several of his productions and believe Les is a true adventurer and worthy of some praise for his filming technique and his subject matter. The kind of guy we all like to have as a spokesman for wilderness survival.
I am looking forward to the next installment of Survivorman!
Way to go Les, if you read this!

His documentary about him and his wife living in the wilderness for a year - Snowshoes and Solitude - is outstanding, much better than the Survivorman show...
