I work in food service. I like to serve people, that is why I do what I do. I was thinking about the disaster in NOLA and noticing things I would like to help out with. I was talking to the woman (Candy) and I would really want to be involved somehow if it were to happen here in Ohio. I was thinking about getting together with some like minded people around town and possibly putting together a mobile library type trailer full of donated books to take to a shelter to keep the people occupied. I saw that there was a big need for something like that in the superdome. I wanted to do a food service trailer sort of like a roach coach or catering to make a mess tent but I think the red cross would have that covered, but I would like to do that more than anything. That would make me feel like I had a purpose in the world. I thought about making a coffee, tea and hot cocoa set up also to keep the troops working there warm. It will most probably be freezing cold when something happens. What does everyone think, where can I go to find out about the rules for doing this, and can it be done?

I'd go to the local Red Cross and see if they liked the idea, or maybe they could put you in touch with someone. Or maybe they'll convince you to join the Red Cross as a volunteer. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
