Bedrolls. What they call now 'outfitter' bedrolls. Basically a tarp with a blanket bed in it.

Sure, they are heavy, but if you have a vehicle or a horse, they are great.

I always laugh at western movies, looking at the skinny little roll they have on the back of the saddle. I've been there, done that, and it ain't that skinny.
