OK, here's what I know so far.
I've been told that two of us from the local vol fireco make up a team. We'll be working on the ground, doing "outreach" and such. I suspect body recovery is a part of this job.
I've been told I'll need to pack mini-trauma kit, BP cuff and so forth.
We'll be supplied with water & food, however, we're expected to carry at least 2 gallons on our person, as well as enough everything to be "autonomous" for 10 days at a time.
Guns are not allowed unless I'm deputized, which I'm working on now (if anyone cares, I carry a Glock in .45 ACP and I intend to bring it if at all possible. My PA Carry permit isn't good in LA, but there's options I can explore).
Ham radio networks are not really working yet, however that's part of the deployment - to get something like a network up. CB Radio is also being used to soem extent. Cell phone service is sporatic but working in some places.
The ship-out date is not firm, they asked to be left alone - basically, don't call us, we'll call you.
So, I may still be here Monday, I may not.
I'm packed, I'm ready. I want to go, I hope I do.
