I saw an EDC rig once that was configured just like a shoulder holster.

I heard a story where some guy was in the wrong place at the wrong time, was asked for ID by a policeman, and when the guy went for his wallet, which he kept in his holster, the cop shot him. The guy eventually died from the injury. This sounded like an urban legend, but I was unable to confirm it.

While I love the concept, I don't relish the thought of getting shot by an overzealous police officer, especially now with subway searches and shoot-to-kill orders begin issued to armed (!) bobbies.

I think I'll stick with my shoulder bag. Odd bulges underneath one's clothes could prove highly inconvenient these days, not to mention injurious or even fatal.
