I just bought some new topo maps from the USGS.gov web site - and they now seem to be USNG (or UTM) gridded! This is a GOOD THING - very, very very good. It means that I no longer have to deal with gridding my own maps! Can you tell I'm happy?

How much do these cost apiece, and are they 1:24k??

My last 100K were gridded. Others?

They cost $6 per map. I wish I could share Martin's enthusiasm but there are thousands still available that are NOT gridded. Only marked on the borders. I look forward to the day that they are all gridded but I don't think I will see that in my lifetime. They have too many of the others they need to sell first. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I seem to remember reading somewhere that the UTM grids will be added as the maps are updated, not as they are printed.

Does anyone know how often the USGS updates the topo maps?

For sub/urban areas that can make a big difference as roads/communities are added.
