Howdy All, I've recently registered after lurking for some time. I just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks for a great site with great members. Lots of good information. I'd like to pass along a tip for anyone who visits Gurnee Mills. I was at Bass Pro Shops today and visited Sports Authority also. Sports Authority had a clearence sale on some of their knives and multitools. I picked up an SAK/ Wind-Water Proof Butane Lighter combo for $ 15.00, They also had some of their camping supplies 50% off. Thanks again, Paul.

Hey, welcome aboard.

I live a bit SW of Gurnee Mills and visit there - usually Bass Pro Shop - everytime I get a chance.

Just got back from a weekend of camping at Fish Lake Beach campground near Rts 12 & 120. A bit too crowded for me, but the kids enjoyed it. I got to play with firestarting skills a bit. Though the most popular firestarter is the the cotton/vaseline type, I still like the old egg carton/wax starters, though they cetainly wouldn't take a spark at all.

Bartman,

You are near one of my old stomping grounds, Chicago, Streator, Ottawa and vicinity. One of my brothers works at Cat in Peoria.

Welcome to you also!

Yes I am real close to Chicago. If you've ever been on 294 and went over the UPS Willow Springs facility, I work at the Railyard adjacent to it (BNSF) I've been past the Cat plant several times taking my son to the AirForce National Guard base in Peoria when he was 17. From what I saw of it, I liked the Peoria area.
