Anyone using these Kronus Mini Precision tools in their kits?

No, I don't work for Radio Shack but these look interesting and might be a good addition to a bug out bag

Interesting way of selling a pin vise.

They look like a set I saw over on www.countycomm.com a while back. I don't recall what tools were in their set screwdrivers/drills/files) but IIRC it was about $100. These three together are only $39.

Kronus stuff is great. Go there web site and look around -- what you are paying for is the handles. Once you pay for that [buy carefully] all the bit sets are pretty cheap.

It should look like what CountyComm had. (Sigh, no longer there.) Kronus and CC both bought them from Commando Products- if you look at the Kronus items, you will see the the CP logo clearly, but I think CC's were sterile.

I carry the drill and screwdriver EDC in my packrat. The drill is useful for me- great when I have to replace components on a circuit board, just fill the hole with soldier and drill it out, good as new for a the new component. Added a largish sewing needle and a stout sewing machine needle (mini awl).

The screwdriver is used daily, and goes in my pocket if I'm going someplace that the packrat won't go.

I've been very impressed, and I'm a hard person to impress with a tool. I've found the screwdriver to be at least as strong as the accu-mins, and a lot more convient and with easier to grip handles. The drill bit is nothing spectacular compaired to drill bits in a pin vise, but the handle is worth it.

They aren't on the website, but CP also has imp and metric hex and torx sets, you have to ask about them. Hang onto your hat when you see the price of the torx.

I had a set similar to those but the "bits" were so long and thin that they were fragile and were lost and broken easily. I have a mini screwdriver that I can't find another on like. Its like those normal 4 way where it has two double ended bits and the shaft removes from the handle but its smaller than the rest of those, its only 4-5" long instead of the normal 10-12" long. The bits are slightly shorter than normal ones but are still the standard 1/4" hex. I'd like to find another one someday just for bob purposes (i'v learned not to decicate anything to a bob unless I have a way to get a spare or replacement for loss)

Do you remeber if the CC set had the hex or torx?

Glad to know about the quality. Every pocketable set I've ever come across has been good at best. The best so far have been Craftsman from Sears. Most have had loose bits (Loose in chuck or during storage (plastic pouch at best)), questionable steel quality, or difficult to open compartments to hold the bits

The torx, T-6 to -10, in the big handle with room to spare.

The two grumbles I've had with Commando Products is (1) they dont' update thier site, and (2) they take a month to reply to email. I'll pm you the pdf of the hex and tork sets. If anyone else wants that, pm me.

It tried the Accu-min, didn't like the handles. I did like thier tiny socket drivers, and I would love to see CP pick up that idea, but the Accu-min form factor just isn't that good IMO.

I picked up the screwdrivers & files this afternoon. PLENTY of room in the small handle for some spare eyeglass screws. All I can say for the quality is NICE.
