I had almost given up on finding the Penley brand strike-anywhere kitchen matches. These are imported from Chile and are like the matches from years gone by. These are also the same ones recommended over at Knifeforums.

If you're living on the west coast, be sure to check out your local Albertson's grocery store. They had a shrink-wrapped pack of 3 large boxes with 250 matches each (750 total) for $1.99.

I couldn't believe my luck -- I had to keep myself from buying more than one pack!
