I just expect stuff to live up to company specs. Such as I know my light is waterproof

Water resistant usually means it'll take a "splash", but not necessarily even partial submersion. I remember reading this somewhere, but don't have a reference handy... That's why I always try to get stuff specified as water proof, preferably with a depth rating, the deeper the bettter.
