Everyone building a kit talks about brass snare wire.

Doug recommends carrying about 20 ft. of it.

Looking on the web, I found a source, buckshot, who sells it in "rolls" of unlisted length, in three different guages.

What guage wire should one use?

Also, are there alternative sources, such as picture hanging wire?

What are you guys using, and where do you get it?

Thanks

Seth

Hi Seth,

I think stainless steel wire is better than brass. It is stronger and less prone to fatigue cracks as you bend and twist it.

You can get .020" SS safety wire from any aircraft supply house like http://www.wicksaircraft.com/showPage.phtml?pagenum=110

For about $8 you can get a 1 lbs. spool which will get you several hundred feet of wire.

Barry at BlueLine Outfitters, Inc [bluelineoutfitters@hotmail.com] will sell you smaller quantities and he also sells a lot of other hard to fine items.

Have fun
David Koelzer

Have got a 150 metre reel of stainless steel fishing trace, made in Japan. It's 50 lb, seven strands, and each strand is coated green, so it makes great snare wire. The only drawback with it is that it's very free running, so for catching rabbit you should use a twitchup.
