I would appreciate your input.
Has anyone used new 1 qt or 1 gal paint cans as a kit container. You can buy them new at most paint stores. It should be waterproof. And they will double as cooking pots. The 1 gal has a wire handle also. You can buy a opener and tape it to the outside. You can also wrap the outsides with Duct tape, etc.
A 1 gal can will hold alot of items. In one I have been experimenting with I have a GI canteen cup and 3 small cans of Sterno also. Along with all the other essential items.
You also have room for more food items.

They are water resistant, but if left out in the elements, they will leak over time.
Ammo cans are much more durable, hold more due to the "standard" shape.
Ranger Rick's site has a ammo can charcoal grill, looks like fun. You could boil water in the ammo can also.
Take a look, they might be something that you could use.
The handles are more comfortable on the ammo cans also, the wire loop on a paint can tears my hands up pretty quickly.
