I am reworking my kits. I have started by redoing my "EDC" kit even though I dont EDC it.

The one I just re-did is for family day hike, vacation (water park or amusement park), running around town. It is for scrapes, cuts, splinters and meds for symptomatic relief of what my family uses most. The only thing missing is a bit of moleskin, and that is ordered and on the way.

Took one of the 96 cent J&J ones (in the small white plastic box) from Wally world and added to get the following:

10 bandaids
2 knuckle bandages
1 sting ease wipes
2 antibiotic ointment pks
1 iodine ointment pk
4 chewable pediatric ibuprofen
4 aspirin
4 ibuprofen
4 tylenol
4 Peptobismol tabs
2 Zyrtec
2 Sudafed
1 Relpax (migraine med)
1 2x2
5 strips of silk tape on inside top of container
#15 scapel blade
needle

I would add waterless sanitizing hand cleaner, sun screen, and treatment for burns (in US, the basic is silvadene (sp?) and any one of a variety of burn-specific dressings. I find burn treatment much more problematic and more generally overlooked than minor wounds but very troublesome because of the risk of infection.

For those wanting to add larger bandages to your kits without having to buy a whole box of them:

I was in CVS/Pharmacy the other day and they sell the large bandages and dressings (both self adhesive and non-self adhesive) individually. Things like the large abdominal bandages, 12x8 wound dressings for heavy drainage, etc. Prices vary, but the 5x9 abdominal pads were $ .97 each.

The usual disclaimer: I do not work for, nor own stock in, CVS and do not profit in any way, shape, or form from this post. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
