Being involved in Survival Living now myself, -I certainly now have some Direct Personal Experience with our Mosquito Nemesis! A Downside of my present site, -is that I share it with many of them! Not as bad as the Tropics, -or the Summer Arctic, or many a Temperate Zone Swamp-but perhaps somewhat nearly so! (At their Worst, -they Zero and Zoom in once per second!, -more like once every 4 / 5ths of a second! Occassionally 2 or 3 within such time frame). A certain West Nile Danger exists in our area as well.
And so I've improvised my own kind of Mosquito Netting. Quite by Happy Accident.
It entails a thin, Foam Blanket I had, -which was in the process of gradually unraveling anyway. (One Chip or Rip gets started, -the whole thing soon enuff gets going!, -You know how that goes!).
I soon noticed it to have a "Mosquito Net Filling", sandwiched into the two Foam Sides. Good portions had flaked off anyway by then, -I soon put the 2s and 2s together to get the 4, -Unpeeled the rest!, -and soon found myself to have a pretty good, rather large sized, Mosquito Net! "With Pleasure!" did I peel, -(To Quote Swigert in "Apollo 13"!). And "Good Riddance!", to that Pesky Nuff Nemesis!
While lying down, face only out of my covers, -the Net of course directly lies over, and touches my face. Mosquitos of course can Bite thru that, -even if the mesh is rather Fine, -and mine is. And they occassionally so do. So I just Double or Triple fold it over, -and that Solves Away that ole problem!
Additionally, -this is Good Familiarization and Training, -for any Tropical or Arctic Experience, -as I may someday have!
Beleive me!, -You want to have a Net, and other Anti-Mosquito measures ready in Mosquito Country! No Less than you want to have Warm Dry Chlothing and Firestarters!, -in Cold!
Point of the Tip is, -Look to the Interior of some Blankets or other Fabrics, -for Netting, -should you find yourself in a "Mosquito Pinch"!, -without a Standard Net! [color:"black"] ScottRezaLogan
