Don't take anything you can't afford to lose. If the TSA person decides that your flashlight is "dangerous" or could be used as a weapon, it's gone. At the bottom of the TSA page there's a sentance that basically says if the screener doesn't like it, it doesn't get on board. Makes the stealing that much easier for the screeners.
