Those of you outside the south-central US have probably never heard of the Sonic drive-in chain. You drive up to a speaker, order your food, and a carhop brings it out to you (sometimes on roller skates).
Sonic usually has nicer-than-average kid's meal toys, like folding blocks covered with trivia and factoids about the world, animals, etc. This spring they had carabiner-style plastic clips with various things built into the clip - a compass, a whistle, a thermometer, and a couple more things I can't remember.
I think it's cool they were giving out useful toys instead of something licensed from the latest movie. (Although they switched to hot-rod cars when they were out of the clips.)
