Has anyone actually has to use his EDC sometime in the past?
Today was my first time (apart from using band-aids), we had a small (4 hour) power cut while I was on board of a train in a tunnel, my Petzl tacticca came to good use here, for finding my way around the train.
I and a few other passagers killed time by playing cards under the light from my petzl until power came back up.
Has someone ever had to grab to his EDC to make him more comfortable in such a situ?

During a charter fishing trip, one of our party cut his hand while reeling in a fish. Fortunately, it looked far worse than it was, but it bled all over. I quickly hauled out my first aid kit from my shoulder bag and tossed it to him. My brother told the others, "He has everything in there."

Some bits get used and some bits don't. The swiss-army knife gets used daily, the keyring flashlight weekly. I've never used the whistle, parachord or sparky thing, or fresnel lens or mirror.

I use my whistle daily, to call my dog. I use my knife and Leatherman often. I've used band-aids after using the former. I've given band-aids to others. I use my flashlight multiple times a day. I've used my cell phone to call 911 after hurting myself in a fall. I use Advil and Benadryl often. I use my Rite-N-The-Rain notebook all the time. I drink from my water bottle 40 times a day. I use the Chap-stick nearly as often.

I keep expecting my handkerchief to be useful, but I haven't used it yet. Something about being a man has programmed my fingers to wipe themselves off on my pants or shirt before my brain can shout, "Hey stupid, you have a hanky!"

I play with my green laser pointer every night, but I'm not sure that counts. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Grilling is a good opportunity to practice fire starting. :-)

The multitool and knife get used frequently. Tweezers and fresnel lens were used a couple of times for removing splinters. Snare wire to tie things together or to get to the car keys savely locked into a friends car. The flashlight came in handy several times too. Needle and thread were used on some occassions. One time a colleague was really thankful that I had it when a button came off her blouse (she did the sewing). The button compass was used as gift for my nephew when I needed one when I didn´t expect to need it.
Lighter and matches were used to start fire for a barbeque when the chef had forgotten to bring a lighter and no smoker were around.
I definitely would have missed my EDC a lot.

Knife - Daily

Flashlight - Bi-Weekly

I often use my kit. I carry wipes and a small hand towel. My wife is constantly asking for a wipe (so much so I feel like Monk's assistant on the show). I used my mini FAK the other day at the dog park. An older guy was tripped up by his excited puppy and fell against the fence. He cut his arm and was bleeding heavily. Turns out he takes blood thinners and I was able to stop the bleeding and bandage him up. I go to the park about 3 times a week to let the dogs get out thier energy and socialize with the other pups. Funny, after patching up the guy I don't get any more peculiar looks while wearing my FatBoy pack. Oh, and the dogs have become trained to come back to me with 3 short blasts of my Fox 40 mini.

I know what you are saying about your Fatboy. I don't get too many strange loks in the gen. pop., but maybe the gen. pop. around here is a little bit strange.

I kind of cammo'd mind with a vecro "FAK" patch.

Squirt multitool frequently at work, as well as the Photon flashlight.
Excedrin Migraine and ibuprofen most frequently.
