In reading the many ideas here for edc and bob kits, I've notes several omissions. ( Let me know what you think.)

– A jacket. Either insulting or waterproof.

-- Cash, the ultimate multi-tool.

– Information that is easy to find now, but may be hard to find later. Phone numbers, friends email addresses ( hard to retrieve in a blackout) bus schedules, street and local area maps, info on meeting points for family, radio frequencies of interest.

– sunscreen/ bug dope. What if we’re all suddenly living outdoors 24/7?

– extra glasses, sunglasses or contacts. Contact cases are tiny. Bring spares

– Batteries. I read somewhere that an average soldier ( in Iraq) carries something like 21 aa’s.

As far as my EDC is concerned propper clothing is with me anyway. The same thing with cash. I have a spare note in my motorcycle kit. Maybe things everyone carries anyway are below the threshold for mentioning. I know the really important numbers and adresses by heart and the radio frequencies of interest are programmed into the device. For me spare batteries or rechargeables somehow belong to the devices needing them (I converted to AA some time ago t make it easier). As I don´t need glasses I don´t carry spares either.
I think I recall from previous discussions that others do so too.

Great point on extra batteries. I have converted to only flashlights that use AA batteries. I carry EDC (with other stuff) an Inova X1and when further afield, I carry my Leatherman Wave with Streamlight Jr. Luxeon in a case on my belt in addition. Both use AA and then I carry spare AA batteries. Simplicity helps!!! Especially in an emergency I dont want to be groping for different size batteries.

No need for one of those - especially if you have in-laws.

Just a little humor - my posts are far from purfekt.

An insulting jacket would need either a cover story or a blanket opinion to go with it.

/with bountyhunter gone, someone has to say it.

I agree completely with what youre saying. Im my BOB/bag kit/car kit I carry all of the things you mentioned except the jacket and the cash. The jacket I omit simply because of the time of year and my location. 90 degrees during the day and 80 at night in the summer. The cash I omit cause I never have any extra and if I packed it it would last long before I would spend it in a non-emergency situation. I think youre suggestions are right on the money though (no pun intended).

Bounty retired from the forum, he decided he was spending too much of his life here. Probably not a bad idea really. Dig back a week or two in the campfire and read his announcement, and the thread which he probably didn't read.
