This was an attempt to get most of my gear out of a little box sitting in the corner, and into a bag that can be carried around. Isn't very complete, for instance it's lacking in medical items.

The bag a high sierra bag that had a camelbak like water bladder in it. I took the water bladder out to clean it, and now it's dissappeared in my room somewhere I don't think I could fit all this in with it though. I like the "civilian" look to it, but there are very few outside attachment points, and those would have been useful. Not the ideal bag, but it'll do until I can find something better. If I was visiting someplace, I might use it as a daypack, with modified contents of course. Most of the contents have been individually bagged to help resist water.

1- Plastic Tubing, Mosquito Head Net
2- 4 MRE Entrees, USGI Poncho
3- Ye Old "Modified SAS Survival Tin"
4- 550 Cord
5- Esbit Fuel, Long Zipties behind
6- Hand/Foot warmers ( x 6)
7- Emergency Water Bag, Plastic orange distress marker
8- Esbit Stove
9- USMC Wire Saw (with spare blade)
10- Bug Repellant Wipes (Several kinds)
11- Extra micropure MP-1 Tabs, 2 x pocket ponchos, space blanket
12- Muslin Bandage
13- Extra water bags
14- Knife Sharpening Stone, Magnesium Firestarter, Zipties, Waterbags, moleskin
15- Silva Type 27 Compass
16- Rite in the Rain notepad, Toilet Paper
17- NATO wind/waterproof matches
18- Safety Flares (signal and firestarting), and Pilots Survival Knife
Not Shown: Maps of the local area

All told, almost $350 worth of stuff I think I'm done for a while, lol! I might end up selling a lot of it and fall back to using my nalgene bottle/compass pouch kit....

Pretty impressive pack. No extra clothing?

Not as of yet. I don't think I can fit a full change of clothing in there, it's pretty stuffed at this point, but I do hope to at least squeeze in an extra pair of wool socks

Thanks for sharing. I have some Esbit tabs and one of those little folding stoves that mostly just sit in a closet. About the only time I get it out is when camping with other people in the winter incase I get stuck in a situation where making fire is difficult and my companions arent willing or prepared enough to wait for me to produce dry tinder, kindly and fuel and a dry spot for constructing a fire. I should probably toss them in my bag kit. I can maybe squeeze them in.

For clothing think outside the box, or daypack. Do you remember all those war movies with the soldier's rucksack topped by a horsehoe shaped banlket/sheler roll?

Mmm....

Intersting idea, Chris. Perhaps a few items wrapped in a lightweight wool or fleece blanket laced tight like a raost with a length of paracord, which also could serve multiple duties in a pinch. Then wrap the roll over the top and tuck into the two mesh bottle holders on each side. Then secure at the top with some sort of quick release strap or carabiner (depending upon what your pack has to clip/tie onto) so it can be quickly moved aside to open the pack without taking the whole thing off. Clever.

BTW, you'd likely want to stash the clothes in a garbage bag, another item with multiple uses, to keep them dry before wrapping in the blanket.

Just a note on some of your gear.

First of all your set up looks pretty good. You should feel good that you have finally put it all together in one pack. I agree with Chris on the "clothing roll". Great place to store extra stuff on the outside. Put your clothes inside a garbage bag or roll it up inside a waterproof jacket, etc.

I see you are using an Esbit stove. If you haven't used this in "real life" situation, you should know that while they work, they hardly work without a "windscreen". The little stove just can't overcome hardly any with at all. You may be able to improvise something for a windscreen, but you may also want to throw in some sort of screen with your gear. jmtc.

I might drop the flares in favor of another more-multipurpose item.

Also, the sheath knife kinda stands out visually--could it ride more in a pocket?

Turn the sheath around so only the back is showing.
