Hello all!
I've been reading ETS for a number of years, and lurking on the SF. I enjoy it and have learned quite a lot. Had more than a few laughs too.
A little bio info, a lifetime hunter, fisherman, camper who spends as much time a poss. outside.. I'm a former 1st LT in the local fire dept and did a fair amount of SAR down south.
I'll be redoing my PSK and taking pix to share of that and my BoB in the next few weeks. No laughing.

I wonder how many people have done a 24 or 48 hour outdoor trip using only the PSK's? When I was training for the Mountain Rescue group, one of my first wildness sessions was a 24 hour "excursion" using only our SAR packs. It was a very "educational" 24 hours for all, as it got cold enough in the Shenandoah Mts. that water froze. Many team members did some fast and serious modifications to their "go" pack when they got back home.
Best Wishes
Raider.

Welcome. I can't say I'm an old hand around here, but glad to have you aboard.

Several of my friends and myself went on a weekend excursion, we had more than PSK's. The rule was only what you could carry on your person or in small book bag..like what my daughter carries to school. You know, the standard Eastpak size. Very educational and this summer we plan to take it a step farther..only what you can carry on your person.

I would indeed be interested in an explanation of the "fast and serious modifications to their "go" pack". There are always things we miss, or can do better, as we develop our kits and plans. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums. Looking forward to seeing your PSK and BOB. I frequently do weekend camps with less stuff than I currently carry in my PSK. I shared some of my early experiences here in the forums but if you've been lurking then you probably already know that. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
