The most dangerous thing there, especially in the Magic Kingdom, are moms raming their way through the crowds with their rented strollers. You might consider wearing shin pads.
Take some time to plan your day. Take lots of pictures. I find I like pictures with family more than those of just Disney scenes or stuff.
Family radios might be handy, but so many people are using them that they are of limited use. Our cell phone reception wasn't too good, but your result may be different depending on the carrier.
They do search all bags before you enter the park, but the searchs aren't even close to those at airports.

Stay away from the: "It's a Small World" ride.
The psychiatric treatment is very expensive to get rid of that song that ravages your brain for months afterwards.

I have to second what Avatar said. My wife and I went on the ride for the tacky fun of it...which it is...but after a while it really does seem like you'll NEVER get off the ride, and the song never stops. Be very careful - you may go once, but I doubt you could be convinced to ride it a second time.

You jerks. I went on that ride when I was about 12, 31 years ago. I thought the song was finally out of my head, and you had to go and mention it. It's baaaaack!

Hey, check out this WDW site: http://tinyurl.com/576er Oh, and the Its a Small World ride closed on May 2, 2004 and is scheduled to reopen in "Spring, 2005".

Take plenty of water or other drinks to keep you hydrated. Prices for drinks and food are just like most of the other theme parks. It is a good investment to rent a stroller to cart the kids and items you bring with you (backpack, etc.) and things that you purchase at the park. They did search our backpack and looked in my wife"s pocket book before we entered the park, but at the time we visited (summer 2004) that was all that was searched. I did inquire about Concealed Weapon Permit Carry and was told that no weapons of any type were allowed in the park, neither by Concealed Weapon Permit holders or Law Enforcement. It was stated that if a weapon was brought to the "inspection" station you could check the weapon in and get it upon departure. I acually had all my survival items on me or in the backpack. Not a bad day, other than the crowds and long lines. Don't forget sun protection (hats, sunglasses and suntan lotion for all), and umbrella or ponchos for all because of the popup showers. It is Florida!!
Have a Safe and Wonderful trip!!

Bring easily carried snack food for you and the family to munch on between meals. Buying things to snack on at the parks will put you in the poor house. I took the family in October 2004 and we brought cereal for breakfast (the kids don't want to eat anyway, they just want to get to the parks) and bread, bagels, peanut butter and jelly for quick lunches to carry into the parks. We brought a water tight collapsible cooler to keep milk (purchased at the gift shop) and other items cold (free ice). Worked great for us. Have fun and take lots of pictures.
