I do a lot of multi day kayaking trips. Since I'm changing jobs and FDNY EMS academy was postponed until July 11 I have a lot of days to take off to use up my vacations.

I did trips in Maine (island hopping), trips in Long Island and my favorite Delaware Water Gap. I prefer river over ocean. So... I'm looking for new spots within 500 mile radius of NYC. If anyone seen a movie "without a paddle" something like that would be perfect. Any ideas?

Well, this is outside your 500mile range, and it's flat water, but the Apostle Islands on lake superior are quite a popular kayaking destination.

The Chesapeake Bay and many of the freshwater tributaries feeding the bay are great kayaking locations.

I've kayaked around the Hampton area of New Hampshire (southern part of the state, I think, along the coast). It was great, I'd recommend it if you plan to head out that far.

If you try Lake Superior Isle Royale is great. Kinda far from the east coast though.
