"Training ideas --please choose from the following menu of options..."
basic first aid/cpr - I am CPR certified and have taken a 1st aid course at the local state college.
survival/ primitive skills - Firestarting, Water procurrement, shelter building are all abilities I posess.
orienteering - I am plenty skilled with a map and compass, learning as I wen twhen I strted backpacking supplemented by the book "How to be an Expert with Map and Compass", available just about anywhere.
edible plants course - Have no experience here. That is a good idea.
tracking 101 - Could use more skill here, however I have extensive hunting experience
swimming, cycling, canoeing, whatever transportation is appropiate. - Some trivia for you: Alabama has the most navigable waterways of any state. I have been canoeing off and on my entire life. Furthermore, I believe that in any bug in scenario, I would prefer to be on foot. Last weekend, I completed a 53 mile hike in 3 days. 22 miles the first day, 19 the second and 12 the third. At this rate, I could walk home from work (35 miles), the farthest away I get from home in a normal week, in 1 1/2 days. Faster if I didn't stop at night.
I appreciate you suggestions. An edible plants course is something I am going to try.
