Yeah, I left out some stuff that is in my truck. This kit serves in the case of a get out and wlak type scenario. I.E. major tornado damage - roads closed.
In my truck is also:
Cell Phone Charger
Rain Jacket and Pants
3 D Cell Mag Lite
Tool Kit
50' 3/8" nylon rope
12 webbing tie downs
Work gloves
Always 2L of H2O, unopened in bottles.
5' x 8' tarp
8' x 10' tarp
I need to add a change of work clothes, a 1st aid kit, and sportsman's blanket, amongst some other things.
The kit is more wilderness oriented. This is due to the walking nature of the scenario I am most likely to encounter.
Training - I backpack regularly and for the past 4 years. What training can be had with this equipment other than map and compass skills, fire starting ability, and the abilty to pitch a tarp? I use all of this equipment, in duplicate, when I am out of doors.
I have considered supplementing this pouch kit with some beef jerky and a 1L water bladder and spending the night out. While this won't be too comfortable, it is certainly doable.
