I have a Wave and a SuperTool, both of which I've found to be solid and reliable. I carry the Wave daily and think it's a great piece for the weight, cost and versatility. Never used it in a war zone, but it should serve you well if you don't try to replace your entire toolbox with it. I have no experience with the SwissTools. I'd recommend getting your hands on each of the pieces you're considering and see how they feel, weigh, etc.

Well, I will go against the tide of Swiss users. I started with an original Leatherman and have since upgraded to the Wave. I love it! The one handed open has come in handy on several trips.

I think you just have to touch and feel all three and then pick the one that is best going to fit your needs.

I have a Charge Ti that has since replaced my old style Wave and Swiss tool. Definately the best multi-tool I have found yet.

The charge ti beltclip latch allows for a modified replacable hacksaw blade.

I use a leatherman wave and have gotten fantastic results. I've never had a problem with it bending or breaking, perhaps some like to torture their tools needlessly, meh.

Anyway, I've never found the weight on the belt sheath to be a problem, the blade stays sharp (personally, I like a nice moderately sharp blade to some of the razor and wire edge fans here,so I don't sharpen mine quite as regularly, but my that is just my personal style.) and the reliability has been great, no problems with mine. I haven't had the chance to check out the swiss tool yet so I don't know if its performance is a significant step above but I hear good things. Not trying to sell the wave here, just giving you my experiance, just check them all out and decide for yourself.
