Mitch:
I don't carry any glue in my kits, just cord and gaffer's tape. This isn't intended as a list of an actual kit. It's a general scheme for categorizing the items that might go into any kit.
Of all the glues I've read about other people using, the two that seem interesting are crazy glue and hot glue (i.e. part of a stick of the glue used in a hot glue gun).
The crazy glue isn't interesting because of possible medical applications, as I've come to the conclusion that it's not a good idea to close wounds in the field. Rather, it's interesting for the range of materials and fabrics it can glue instantly. For example, I've used it instead of flame to anti-fray the cut ends of nylon belting and cord. It's pretty compact, too.
The hot glue seems like a good general-purpose adhesive. Of course, it requires that you have a heat source, say a lighter and a chunk of hacksaw blade, with which to apply it.
Hope I didn't mislead you!
