With Doug's permission (Thanks, Doug!), I've posted a slightly modified version of his Mini PSK for the scouts in our troop. Please feel free to browse it and provide comment and/or corrections.

http://scouter149.home.att.net/MiniPSK.htm

Basically, I've altered the medication items as I shouldn't be recommending to scouts that they should be carrying prescription drugs. Also, I swapped out the condoms for baking bags. Alhough I'm sure many of our older scouts are aware of what condoms are traditionally meant for, I don't want to be in the position to explain to mom & dad why I'm recommending their 5th grade son to go to the drugstore to buy their own. :-)

Later, I may link individual items in the list to a tips sheet with ideas on how each of these items may be used in a survival situation, at least for the items that have multiple uses that ae not always obvious.

Thanks.

BTW, I already know that the links to two of the photos are missing. Also, the link from the site's main page (index.htm) doesn't work becasue I forgot to capitalize the "M" in MiniPSK.htm. (Aren't computers fun!)

I will correct them tomorrow night

FYI, I cleaned up a bunch of spelling errors!

I introduced the PSK concept to the boys in our troop last night. I showed them the materials I have collected so far for my kit (almost all of the items). They were all very interested and there was a lot of ideas oing around on how to use items. I'll bring my packed, but not sealed kit in when it's ready. Some of them have a hard time believing it will all fit into the tin, of course I haven't done it yet so maybe I won't get it all in the first try! :-)

Some of them are fired up to earn Wilderness Survival merit badge this summer at camp. I even volunteered that I would sleep out in a survival shelter just like them!
