I had read about in-line portable water filters a couple of years back, but can't seem to find a source for them currently. They seemed to be just a small housing for a filter with tubing intake and output tubes attached. I would like to make a simple gravity system by modifying the cap of a 2 litre pop bottle to take a nipple fitting that would connect to the standard tubing that leads to the intake of this in-line filter.

Any leads on this product?

You're going to have to do some fancy footwork to make a non-collapsible pop bottle work in a gravity feed system.

Ever tried bottle filters? I prefer them for simplicity and reliability however they do require physical effort where-as a gravity filter does not.

What bottle filters do you suggest? I have found www.purewater2go.com and www.innovapurewater.com - are there some that are better than others?

I bought the Sweetwater in-line filter thinking it would be a good pre filter. It takes a smaller tube than hydration tube.



I went with the Sawer filter. It was $40 at Sportsman's Warehouse. It flows freely. It is designed to be an in line filter for your hydration system. Add a Platypus bag with a line adapter and you are set. I have mine in my Camelbak.
