Good Morning
I’ve been reading threads for a while and decided to join in. Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Porter. Nice to find people who like minded.
In a few recent threads you talk about iodine type water purifications tabs and how they need to be carried/stored in glass. I have been carrying mine in a sealed soda straw for years without any corrosion problems. Each year around New Years I change out the tabs along with any other items that may lose potency with age. Is there something else I need to be looking for or worried about?

Things I gathered about Potable Water iodine tablets...

They lose power if exposed to light, so store them in the dark or in a dark bottle.

They iodine sublimates and gets all over everything if you don't seal them in glass with a teflon cap liner.

If you can store yours in a straw and suffer no degradation (they change color a bit) and no leakage (everything changes color) then you've got all the bases that I know of covered.

Potable Aqua tablets can both sublime iodine vapor and absorb moisture. Soda straws are not impermeable to iodine gas or to water, so over time the tablets are going to degrade. They may look fine, your kit may not be affected much, but they may be inactive. These must be carried in sealed glass or they may not work when needed.

I think you are better off not carrying them than carrying them improperly contained.
