It just feels good, doesn't it? When something relatively minor happens, but you're prepaired for it. Yesterday a friend at work sought me out to remove the tinny sliver of glass she stepped on w/ bare feet. My EDC light was a great help in being able to actualy see the object, then I was able to dig out the sliver with some forceps (sp?) that were handy and a safety pin that I EDC. Whoot Whoot. Now I don't feel so silly.

I just had an "EDC saves the day" story over the weekend. Well it reall wasn't that impressive but my 2 year old dropped his truck during the middle of kid's concert. It was under the seats in front of us and it was dark. No problem I pulled out my EDC flaslight (Inova X5T) and found the truck. Not that impressive a save I know, but my son was very happy.

Nothing out there (i.e. books, news stories) is better to illustrate the concept of being prepared, then to find one's self in need of something, but in no way ready, due to the lack of preparation.

The next step in helping this person would be to introduce this individual to the concept of carrying their own supplies, so they cannot only help themselves, but others as well.

Impressive enough for those around you. Not to suggest your son would be the "typical" screaming 2-year old, but anytime you can placate a small child in a crowded theater you've accomplished something.

All to true.....It does amaze me that the simply items I carry in a pocket can be so useful during the day.

The last time I saved the day with one of my pocket gadgets, my younger brother said, why should I bother carrying crap when I know Craig will have something on him?

I used the Sliver Gripper tweezers in my EDC to get a "winning ticket" out of a vending machine for a child.
Mom was ready to give up and was consoling the kid as I came by. Result was 1 happy kid and 1 relived Mom.

I always carry my Sliver Grippers with me, too. They are bloody useful when you need them.

I wonder who will be laughing when he REALLY needs something he knows you carry (so he won't) and you aren't there to lend it to him.

My beloved younger brother is one of those lucky people who walks around carrying nothing because he needs nothing.

Me, I find loose screws and things that need duct-taping everywhere.
