It works on Crypto and giardia both, though if the water is at all cloudy
you have to let it settle or use a flocking agent such as alum first.

Straining through 2 layers of tightly woven cloth (sari cloth was used in
the tests) helps remove particulates and by itself remove the particles
that cholera sticks too. Another simple water purification step.
