Does anybody know if there are re-usable instant ice packs (just as there are reusable heat packs) ???????

I didn't know there was an instant heat pack that was reusable. There are instant ica packs, and reusable ice packs, but no reusable instant ice packs, AFAIK.

Maybe I didn't use the correct word/name.
I was thinking about that kind of reusable hand warmer
or this one for feet

when used, you just heat them in boiling water a few minutes and they are ready for use again.

And my question is : is there anything like that but producing cold instead of heat ?

I have one of those reusable chemical heat packs that you reconstitute by boiling. It is called a Reheater. I love mine and have used the heck out of it, mostly on the inside of a sleeping bag in an unheated tent. If someone makes a reusable cold pack, then I think it might be just as handy.

The only product I know of that kind of fits the bill is called "Liquid Ice". It consists of a bandage soaked with a special liquid (The Liquid Ice) which works by evaporative cooling once exposed to the air, and functions just like an ice pack would (although in bandage form so it also provides compression). You can get "Recharger" bottles which is essentially a bottle full of this liquid which you can reaply to the bandage and it functions like it did when you first opened it. So a bandage and a bottle of liquid effectively functions as a reusable instant ice pack (a bottle holds enough for about 20 bandage applications and the cooling effect lasts about 2 hours).

Well, I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but Earth Therapeutics has these round gel disks that can be reused for both cold and hot therapy. For cold, just stick them in the freezer for a few minutes and they will stay cold for a good while (the more time in the freezer, the colder they will stay). To make hot, stick them in hot water for a few moments.

They're no where near "instant" hot or cold, but they are pretty small (3.5" diameter). And although they are mainly for home spa treatments, they are reasonably effective for other medical uses.

well, I don't want to have to keep them in the freezer until use.
