Got a question for both genders.
Ladies what kind of knives do you carry for everyday use and for field use?
Guys what knives do your significant others carry for everyday use and field use?

My wife is not very fanat.., er, she's not picky. She EDCs a Leatherman Micra for use around PHRASECENSOREDPOSTERSHOULDKNOWBETTER. and a Victorinox Rucksack in her pack (gave up purses at the 2nd or 3rd kid). If we go out for more than a weekend, I usually loan her a larger blade - an old good Solingen copy of a famous old design. Sometimes she used to sneak my old Gerber Bird & Trout, too, but I think I've tempted her away with one of those nifty "Army" Mora knives - the plastic handled, plastic sheathed $9 one from Major.
Oh, she also has a tiny lockback clipped to her BSA hotspark, as do I. Dunno that she uses it as a knife very often, though.
I've found that with her that knives are such utilitarian things that she's not interested as long as she has a sharp knife that gets the job done, and I really can't find any fault with that. She doesn't like to be without a sharp, but that's about it. Uh - I just thought of something - she DOES have a very strong preference for stainless steel. It's a kitchen preference carried into EDC and backpacking; she's positive about that. Hmmm. That gives me an idea...

My wife EDCs a Leatherman Squirt ... the one with the plier rather than the scissors. When she needs something bigger she switches to her SOG Paratool which has a couple decent 3" blades on it and resides in her car kit when not in use.

My wife has EDCed a Spyderco Delica (plain edge) in her waistband or pocket every day for the past eight or so years. I'm so proud of her.
She also has a Spyderco Ladybug on her keychain.
We both rely on our EDC knives so much that we carry backups in our gloveboxes in case we forget.
By the way, I think the Ka-Bar Dozier lockback clip point with opening hole at under $20 is hard to beat for an inexpensive but useful spare.

I carry a little generic folder with a 2" blade on my keychain, & a cheapo Mora in my daypack. Someday I will go for better, but unemployment has definitely stopped my shopping!

My wife carries a black Vic Classic on her keyring. Has a Gerber Mini-LST (model 200?) and/or a Vic SuperTinker somewhere...purse?...diaper bag? Also has a S&W M60 LadySmith in .38 Spl. :-)
A friend carries a Gerber MicroLST as a zipper pull (so do I) on a jacket.

Oh man I need to get my wife together with your wife. I have been trying to get her to get a CHL for about 2 years. She's not against getting one but she would never carry even a SW ultralite let alone anything else.

I have two - the Vic SAK Cyber tool and a cheap lockback. I use the SAK more than the lockback, partially because I can feild-strip a computer with it.

Leatherman Squirt on the keychain (like Brian's wife, the one with the pliers & not the scissors), and a Wave when visiting people outside the city -- unless I'm traveling by plane. Haven't really been camping since high school, so I don't own anything heavy-duty.

My wife is a devoted carrier of her SAK Huntsman for EDC. But she is totally utilitarian without any of the sense of romance for knives, tools, and gadgets generally. Even guns don't arouse the fascination in her that the boys and I have. On trips and in the field, she also uses a Leatherman Wave, but only if the boys or I are not around to so the project for her. She says that's what men are for. She also uses a one of our fixed blade knives on hunting trips, usually a Buck Pathfinder.
She has an S & W M66 in .357 Magnum.

Her purse looks amazingly like a daypack. This is one of the stupid PHRASECENSOREDPOSTERSHOULDKNOWBETTER. states, so it's not EDC for her around here and she stays strictly legal with it. She's resourceful and alert. I'd rather not go into any more details than that
I think it's a particularly vicious beast to fire, but it doesn't bother her. Depending on locale and reason for having it handy, she switches between a fairly standard Keith-style heavy bullet reload and an uber light bullet reload I developed especially for her and that revolver - the light bullet reload is a blast to shoot in my Redhawk but too destructive for anything but head shots on small game.
She carried a semi-auto many years ago in a place where it was polite to pack, but she always greatly prefered a DA revolver (well, actually, she prefers a short-barreled 870, but that's another story...). I would like to switch her to a heavier 5 shot DA revolver ( 44, 45, or 357), but she's pretty stubborn (...and beautiful and smart and... she reads this forum from time-to-time)

Im in the DFW (Dallas/FortWorth) area. Actually work in Dallas and live in a Arlington which is right in between Dallas and Fort Worth. I have lived all over Texas over the years and actually lived in Houston for longer than anywhere else and I'll tell ya you certainly picked a good time of year to visit. It's pretty rough in Houston in the summer.
