That looks like a variation on a 'band aide' box I used to keep in my bag. It was slightly curved and had a flip top attatched, not the removeable one shown in the link. There are still small first aide kits that you can get in simmilar boxes, but I am not sure if they are curved anymore.

This is just another example of AMK and Aeromedix going the extra mile.
When I ordered one of Doug's kits back in May direct from Aeromedix, they included one of those containers in the packing box for free. It's almost identical to an old orange Cutter first aid kit box I had as a kid. Slides into a cargo pocket nicely. It was an unexpected surprise at the time, but, it looks like they are advertising it as part of the offer on the website now.

It's a nice reason to go direct through the Aeromedix website, rather than buying the kit at an outfitter. I've seen them at EMS, but, without the extra case.

Chris: I assume by Frenchy’s post that you were talking about the Coghlan Trailbox; but, maybe you actually were recalling something else. Ever since reading the post, I would periodically Google on “survival flask”. The other day I found

Yeh, I did buy one. The internal dimensions are roughy 5” deep x 4” wide x 1” thick (tapering down to ~3/4” at the bottom). The plastic seems “strong enough” and more flexible than a Witz box (like George VanOrden uses for his Pocket Pro Survival Kit (in the “very near future” available through Aeromedix)-- http://www.prosurvivalkit.com/pocketpro.html ). Overall, however, the survival flask is probably not as durable as a Witz box.

A flask that is metal (at least the lower portion of it) could be used for heating water. Put the top back on and one has a hot water bottle for cold nights.

I doubt that you are going to find a comfortable container for your back pocket that will both protect the contents AND be comfortable. Thin and flexible are comfortable, metal and rigid will protect the contents. You will have to find something in the middle. A plastic box will not take the stress of being sat upon day after day.

Perhaps a neck wallet under your shirt? Or an inside the waistband holster that has been modified to accept your kit?

I have thought the best "dress" container would be a old pager or cell phone that had its electronic guts removed. No one gives an extra pager a second glance. Get an older, big one.
