Hello, I am new to this forum! I started getting into survival after all that has happened in the states and want to be prepared for the worst, just in case. It is also really fun to get all the necessities packed tightly together in a handy sack! I have nearly completed my gear (can it ever be complete?) I have used an A.L.I.C.E. Butt Pack for a first aid/survival kit and I have alot of nice things inside. What I am lacking and will probably get this weekend is a small wire saw with rings on the end. I have seen some real nice ones online but they are too expensive, does anyone know if I can make my oqn with parts from the hardware store? Do they sell chainsaw chain or the wire with the little divets in it that would be suitable to cut? Let me know and I look forward to talking with you all! (P.S. The nick is supposed to be sarcastic, seeing as I live in Arizona)

If you find a chainsaw chain for cheap you can make one. I made one for a friend of mine out of a garage sale find. Just grind off the tops of two adjouning pins and punch out the remainder and install split rings. It worked much better than i though it would.

Ive got the BCB commando wire saw, and the Pocket Chainsaw in a tin. I also carry a 4 quart stainless steel mixing bowl(this design of steel container is the most economical in terms weight, cost, and heat requirement). I drilled 2 holes in the rim, and use the wire saw along with the 2 hooks from the pocket chainsaw to make a pot bail. You can then use a piece of birch bark for a lid. Also a gransfors axe and a 4" fixed blade make up the rest of my cutting tools.
