You guys just don't understand. When this happens to me (at home or around my buddies) I quickly define the situation as a "field test" of the edge... "only the brave and dedicated will do so, but it is a necessary test of the edge geometry".

Meet any master knifemaker. If he/she has any hair left on his arm, or if he/she doesn't have numerous cuts dabbed with superglue or duct tape, be suspicious.
