I watched this movie for the first time in a few years as I noticed my Dad had a DVD copy. Great movie for the outdoorsman/adventurer in us all. Not a great deal of survival oriented information, but close.

Another good one that was brought to mind was "Man in the Wilderness" (1971). Rather crazy, but very interesting nonetheless. The main character's progress is well defined, if strange.

I thought these films might be of interest.

The real Jeremiah 'liver eating' Johnson oddly enough is buried in the veteran's cemetary in West Los Angeles near U.C.L.A. Man in the Wildernsess is based on The Ordeal of Hugh Glass. Lots of films have tue antecedents. Deathhunt with Charles Bronson and lee Marvin is based on the true incident of The Mad trapper of Rat River. These films serve us well in at least inspiring interest in the real events, excepting Rogers and Hammersteins South Pacific. <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
