Do these have a place in a PSK? I've heard mixed opinions

I only replenish electrolytes during strenuous physical activity or extreme heat when they may be rapidly lost. In a survival scenario physical exertion should be reduced to the lowest output needed. For a minimalist kit I would be inclined to say no. A larger unit or dedicated first aid kit may warrant inclusion. As an aside, I know with horses some owners pour so many electrolytes into their horses other vital micronutrients and vitamens are actually blocked from absortion.

I agree w/ Chris that 'lytes don't really have a place in a minimal kit. For a large-scale kit, or if you frequent arid places, then they could be quite justifiable.

I have had excellent results using EnduroLytes from Hammer Nutrition in desert climates. They are also extremely popular and have a long track record with adventure racers and extreme runners. Educate yourself about electrolyte replacement, read the label on EnduroLytes, and plan ahead. It works.

Alright, thanks
I was packing it for climates where heat stroke might be a problem, but I guess it's not a big deal
