I've handled one of the replicas (Navy Arms) but not fired it.

Unlike Bountyhunter, I sort of like it's looks. It is one heavy revolver, though.

A lot depends on what you want to do with it. It looks like a lot of fun to play with.

As a weapon it has some problems. Inherent in the design is that huge cylinder, on which the chambers have to be toward the edge to clear the smoothbore barrel, that's why the orignals were an odd caliber. This adds a lot of weight. Then there's the question of the utility of the smoothbore barrel- probably just the thing to get a chicken for the pot, but it seems awkward on the battlefield.

If I were a re-enactor of the Woah of Nahthen Federahlist Agression I think I'd be concerned that a weapon that was very unusual might become very common indeed.

But, somebody here probably knows more about all that than I do- I haven't done it.

I woudn't worry that you're missing anything with the double-stacks. I have large hands, and choose the 1911-style single-stack .45s anyway.

I never liked the change in trigger pull on the DAs, and adding more inadequate rounds doesn't make up for the fact that they're inadequate.

But, to each their own.
