Just got back from Walmart, and they are selling BOB's in the pharmacy area.
Home Guard
Wallyworld was selling them for $28, big discount from the list price.
Might make a good Christmas gift for my parents, who live in a hurricane prone area.
I would have to add to the kit, of course!

Not bad for $50.00, has a lot of useful stuff. I'm sure it isn't extremely high quality stuff, but should work well enough.

Okay, I went back to pick up some food after work, and rechecked the bags.
They are the Ready Kit, not the Plus version on the website.
Missing a few items, but still not a bad deal for a starter kit.

Home Depot had 2-packs of the Ready Kits for 79.99.
Quality looks a bit questionable on some items, but definitely better than nothing for the non-gear-freaks.

It seems ok. Not an awful start, and the fact that Walmart carries it ensures that in any emergency, that there will be a few more people who have something with them.

I'd wonder about the sheeting, though. Certainly, plastic sheet has its value. But first of all, any nerve gas attack (as the ad text goes on at length about) would happen too quickly to protect someone. More importantly, any room well-enough sealed to protect against that threat would suffocate those inside.

Its value for patching broken windows following a major storm, or as the beginnings of shelter in an evacuation scenario are far more important.

I guess they're selling what people are looking to buy....

A lot of people say that plactic sheeting a room will kill you in a gas attack. Well the answer is yes and no. The premis behind the idea is a temporary shelter is youi get a warning. Works in a place like Israel where they have a warning system in place. This syatem also gives all clear signals for you to come out. The average sized room even if totally sealed will give you several hours worth of air.

The idea is that most gas attacks will disipate in a relitively short time.

When you start running out of air you get out and rake your chancees that the gas will be below tovic levels by then. One major warning.

[color:"red"] DO NOT SLEEP IN a sealed room [/color]

Or as air runs out you may continue yor sleep into eternaty. Stay awake and be alert to the signs of running out of air.

The sealed rooms are a useful idea under the right conditions but must be used the way it is intended. It is misuse that will be leathal.

Was in Sam's a couple of weeks back. Sam's and Walmart are same company. They had a couple of these by the door as you walk in for the 49.95 price.

As already mentioned, light duty quality. Things I like is everything is safety orange. I realize that some people like the subdued and camo look but think about having kids around. They drop and forget everything. The orange color would help keep things found particularly by novice adults in a stress situation with unruly kids.
