I know exactly how you feel.  My soon-to-be husband needs a lot of convincing, too.  It's funny because he's the "Boy Scout" (very honorable, smart, and loves nature), but I'm the one who comes prepared!
My suggestion is to buy her a very pretty (yet utilitarian) bag or purse that she would LOVE to carry around with her everywhere.  Then, stock it up for her with the stuff she likes to carry  (makeup, hair brush, etc.) and things she NEEDS, like a FAK and PSK.  A beefed-up Pocket Medic is a great item.  Just keep any additional preparedness stuff fairly light and small, to make it more appealing to take everywhere.  Seriously, Leatherman and plenty of knife companies have made such cute little tools.  And  Doug's kit is so light, even if I'm carrying my dainty evening bag I can still keep my PSK with me.
