Anyone have any experience with this kit?

I was especially interested in the size of the tin and dealers in the US.

don't know retailers, but i do know is that they sell the "tin" seperately as a "mini messtin" or something like that.

BCB has made numerous kits. You will find their contact information and US vendor in the retail and manufacturers list. Doug's review of an earlier unit is a good measure. They have a few really nice items and a mixed lotfor the balance. This kit has a nice container with locking bails like the old japanese lunch boxes. The balance sounds good, though I wonderif PP will be included in a US version. The salt is questionable.

I have received this kit and some others from BCB, including the latest vesion of their Combat Survival Kit, and current plans are that I will be posting reviews later this fall.

It might just be me, but I think BCB talk a good kit but fail quite badly in the construction. I recently obtained a "military survival kit" and it really was remarkably cheap and tacky. It was definitly mass produced, lowest possible bidder kit.

i don't think the let others make them for them. The content of all of there kits are made up by the same things, some just got more than others. I also bought a millitairy survival kit long time ago. even wrote a review about it.

I bought a BCB "combat surival tin" four four/five years ago and am pleased with it. I only replaced the button compass for the rest added and modified the kit. I recommend this as a great starting kit to expand upon. (Not as good as Mr Ritter's though... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />)

My wife got me one last Christmas, and I got just what I expected. After buying MANY pre-packaged kits, I have come to realize that NO-ONE can put together the perfect kit for someone else. With the BCB kit, I got rid of the candle, added more fishing/snaring supplies, a small gents knife, and some "tropical" matches from a pack of MRE's, it's better than it was, but still not perfect for everyone. Doug's kit rides in one pocket of my jacket, and the BCB kit's on the other side (they're both in a small alice pack in Summer), depending on the day, I carry other gear to go along with them (I have the luxury of not having to worry about co-workers' curiosity/paranoia). Long story short...If you want the perfect kit, you're gonna have to put it together yourself, but the BCB kit... or Doug's kit... or any one of many more, isn't a bad place to start.

I still haven't been able to put together the PERFECT kit for myself. I won't even tell you how many times I have repacked, packaged and inventoried my smallest kit. Sometimes it's fun and soemtimes it's frustrating. As a matter of fact I'm in the process of doing again right now. I wonder if I'll ever get a kit so perfect that I can go a year without feeling like I need to add or remove something from it to make it better. So far I dont think I have even gone a month! Im working on squeezing a PSK (contained in a small soup can), FAK and a tube tent (or mylar bivy sack) in to a Maxpedition M2 belt pouch right now. So far I'm not having much luck. The FAK is pretty comprehensive (even encludes Durabond and OR powder) and the PSK is quite comprehensive also as it is based on both Doug's mini kit and Cody's fanny pack kit. I have plenty of gear to live on for a lot longer than 72hrs. Just cant get it crammed in to the M2 and I refuse to use anything bigger because I know I wont carry it all the time if I do. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Guys, I agree with what you're saying. I too have been into it and thrown bits out and added other bits. Sorry for annoying the hornets nest <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />. My major gripe is, we (the forum) have the insight of many others experience. An 18 year old soldier lost in Iraq would place his life in this kit. I reckon I'm just getting a bit peeved at the whole lowest possible bidder attitude of the defence procurement agency.
