Hi all, my first post.

Looking for any info about a desalination kit, as mentioned in "Survival at Sea" by Chris Beeson.

Thanx in advance!
/Ulf

I am not exactly sure where you can find them. Try eBay, look under survival. Or military surplus. Perhaps even an boating supply shop such as West Marine. Since they are a government supply item, it will be in the US supply listings, and the manufacturer can be tracked from there. We used them in the Navy, and they worked well enough, but were not the most efficient device. Also, the water didn't taste very good, but dying of dehydration is a much worse alternative.

Yes, and no relevant hits on "desalination".

Thanks, that is same ones I remember. They are kinda heavy though. Again, survival is more important.

Lately I've seen some Pur LL-06 and similar RO lifeboat-type desalinators on ebay in the $150 range. I don't know what happened since those things were around $500 new. Pumping them sounds like a lot of work, but at least you won't run out of chemicals very soon.
