Trusbx, that looks sort of like a Sterno can. Sterno cans also come in various sizes, so might be good for this.

It's actually wider and the height is lower than a sterno can. You'll have to burn off all the sterno 1st to use the can. I just emptied out the contents (expired soy formula) and washed the tin out.

You could see if any of your family docs have expired milk tins you could have...

Chris,

First of all, Hi. It's good to talk to you again.

Second, forget about the container. Let's talk about the knife.

3. How do you like it?

4. Does it feel too fat or heavy in your pocket. I've been thinking about getting it. The prospect of a corkscrew, a phillips screwdriver, and a white LED light all in one package are very hard to resist.

5. We tend to use our SAKs aggresively and frequently in food preparation and even in cleaning small (?) game when nothing else is handy. How waterproof are the lighting systems. We wash our knives after such use.

Thanks,

John

Hi john,
I too could not resist a new SAK.
First off, I like it. It's one layer thicker than a regular huntsman but is not so bulky as to be relegated to the too fat/heavy to carry pile. It doesn't really give a huge weight difference or bulk in the pockets for EDC.

Not only do you get the LED, Philips screwdriver & corkscrew, you also get the small eyeglass screwdriver, pen and steel pin in the sides. It really ups the usefulness factor quite a bit.

The LED light portion is not really waterproof, so washing the led module would not be really advisable. Splashes should not be a problem. I will try to wash the knife and see how it stands out and post a seperate review.

Hi Chris,

Your knife does look nearly irresistible. It is a very attractive combination of useful features. For some time now, I have using a Vic Fieldmaster. It has the same features as the Huntsman except that it substitutes the Phillips screwdriver for the corkscrew. Whenever I take trips, I never think to include a corkscrew. Fortunately my wife has the corkscrew on her SAK (a 20-year old Spartan which she stubbornly refuses to upgrade to the Huntsman I got her a few months ago--oh well, I guess obstinate wives are another topic). The idea of having both in the same readily pocketable SAK is very appealing. The further prospect of adding a light, a pen, and an eyeglass screwdriver in the all same compact package make it even better.

We'll see if Santa Clause brings one to our home this year.

Be careful in your testing. Information is good. But destructive testing is a little too much of a good thing.

It's good hearing from you.

John

Chris,

Thanks for the very informative and excellent review. It sounds geting the knife wet may not be much of a problem.

Somehow I had gotten the impression (apparently mistaken) that the LED light was made by the same manufacturer as the Photon. How well does the light compare to white photon?

Thanks,

John
