A doctor friend gave me some empty IV bags. They're essentially super-heavy-duty plastic bags. I cut one end open and put my medical and survival supplies in them and duct-taped them shut. Waterproof, flexible, you can see what's in them, they float, and they could be used as water containers. What do you think?

Good idea! Where do you carry it? keep garbage bags in the game pocket of my coat.

I keep a small one with the basics in a coat pocket most of the time. If I head very far off the road, hunting or hiking, I have several more with expanded survival gear and first aid supplies in a small backpack. Another thing I like about these IV drip bags: They're quiet.

I must chime in here with another idea. I bought a reasonably small, zippered cosmetics bag from Nordstrom to use as a minikit in my office briefcase. A nice gray color. My wife's idea.
