The link you posted requires an AO-Hell sign-in. I ain't doin' that to my PC.

Can you copy the text to a post, or at least summarize the story, since there's no way I (& perhaps others) can read it?

Thanks.

David

Sorry about that link David. I'll see if I can locate the article from a "real" news source.

Alligator attack article

http://www.gainesville.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040827/LOCAL/208270341/1078

This time the source is from the Gainsville Sun newspaper. I hope this will work.

The article said that this guy will from now on keep his dog on a leash and away from the water. This is what he should have done in the first place when he knew that he was on the alligatorīs turf. In addition he didnīt have the skill to kill the animal with his knife. Thus he created a hazard for others who have to deal with the animal now and presumeably some pain for the animal. So the alligator has to die because of someoneīs lack of common sense (donīt ge me started on the people who still let their children play in the water there). I definitely think that this is no reason to carry a knife. Using common sense would be far better.
I think that carrying a knife is sensible though.

A "James Bond" style mink glove might have been more humane.

I understand rubbing an alligators tummy tends to make them mellow out.

Well, never tried with gators (not too many in the Seine river !), but it sure works with my cat !

I'm not desperate enough YET to try mink gloves on anything, but it works on my best friends wife.
