I have had one of these for about 18 years. Just found it online again http://tinyurl.com/5psfbIt is a little large for EDC, but easily fits in a cargo pocket. It originally had my FAK, but will become a PSK in the near future. Rubber gasket in the lid, and two roll catches to hold closed. Relatively sturdy as well. Bill

Bill: I couldn't get that URL to lead to a valid page. Can you try again or provide the actual URL or a home page and some navigation tips? -- Bear

Try this link: http://www.edirectory.co.uk/penrith_surv...&cid=55That looks just about perfect for what I need. It's a little smaller than the one I'm using (22.5 cubic inches vs. 28.5) but aside from that it should work. Now to see if it's carried here in the States. Thanks for the heads up. Regards, VInce

I tried the link when posting, I swear.............. I picked mine up from Early Winters back when they carried gear, and not just yuppie wear. I have searched, but this is the first place I have found. Might be able to derive a manufacturer and contact them directly.

I have been hunting these aluminum boxes for years...ever since I saw them in Early Winters and failed to order one.
A couple of years ago Trusbx and I imported stainless steel picnic boxes for some members of this forum, but we both thought the aluminum models were long gone...
Thanks.

I have been looking at this too. I recently found an old .22 caliber Daisy pellet box. It is basically about the same size as a brass snuff box, but the lid screws on tight. I am thinking that I will add a peice of inner tube to the lid so that when the lid is tightened down it will squeeze the inner tube and sort of act like a gasket. The inner tube will also work as an emergency firestarter too.

I found this container just recently in a local sporting goods store (click on Alu boxes at the top of the page). The Midi size is about 6.75" x 4.6" x 2.4" (170 mm x 117 mm x 60 mm) The seal is a rubber gasket and allows for a tight seal. I would recommend the silver one for cooking though. <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" /> You could use red for a FAK, Blue for Survival. Stargazer,
That Sigg box is difficult to find. Can you give me the name of the local place?
I called several large Sigg dealers and all of them told me the boxes are not coming over here....go figure.
Thanks

Schwert: I found them in a store in Twin Falls, ID called Sportsman's Warehouse. According to their web page they have a store in Kennewick. I called the store here locally and they said not all of the stores will stock the alu boxes. The four smaller sized they had have already sold out and they are not sure when they would have more. I suppose if enough people wanted one to justify a large order we could try something like what you and Trustbx did. I missed out on that one entirely. I will be out of town all next week with limited internet access, but will have the opportunity to check another of their stores. Will keep you posted. OBTW, the store still has the maxi size in stock. Price is $23.98 USD Take care, Stargazer ASAP = Always Suspicious, Always Prepared

Thanks Stargazer. Their store in Silverdale is just across the water. I may need to go over there. Too bad their web site seems not to be a sales site.
That price is similar to the box from the UK.
Thanks again.
