In reply to:

I hate using this tiny window for lengthy replies.

You can change the size of your reply window. This will be the same window that you use for composing original posts, too. In fact, you can make this composition window/text field really really
big!

1. Go to the top of the page and click on "Control Panel".
2. Go to the bottom of your control panel page, and click on the word "Edit" to the right of where you see the line:
"

Display preferences, number of shown threads, languages, colors..."
3. Go about 3/4 down the page, until you see the settings "TextArea columns?" and "TextArea rows?"
4. Enter new values in the corresponding text fields to achieve the size you feel is comfortable. This will require experimentation.

The maximum column setting is 200. The maximum row setting is 50. These are both far too big, IMO. I would suggest using half these figures as good start points, and continuing to split the difference, up or down as you prefer, until you achieve a window/text field size that you feel is comfortable.

(And hopefully, this will only encourage Tom to write more.
