During my youth, we used to make explosive devices out of empty CO2 cartridges like those used in glass frosters and pellet guns. Fuses were from firecrackers, and most of them fizzled like an old Flash Gordon rocket, although some fizzled and flew in directions of their choosing.

The plastic coating on playing cards makes a great explosive if you have the patience to strip enough off the cards.

I just read where Senator Ted Kennedy was put on the "No Fly" list of the TSA for a couple of weeks and was inconvenienced several times while trying to board flights.
